Trans Fatty Acids aka ‘Phantom Fats’ are uncloaked as the FDA requires food labels to include Trans Fat contents beginning in 2006. Trans fat is a byproduct of a process that makes oils more solid and increases their shelf life. Often called “stealth fat” because it is hidden in processed foods, it raises the level of bad cholesterol, increasing risks of heart disease and obesity.
